FETIH 1453 - A PROPHECY FULLFILLED
Everyone knows about the famous conqueror Sultan Muhammad Al Fateh of the Ottoman Caliphate. Sultan Fateh came into this world on 30th march, 1432. He left the world on 3rd may, 1481(age 49). The movie is based on his life and his conquest of Constantinople. It is written by Irfan Saruhan and directed by Faruk Aksoy. The protagonist role is played by the talented Devrim Evin.
The movie starts with Ayub Al Ansaari R.A telling other companions about the prophecy of Constantinople. The prophecy is; that one day Muhammad SAW told his Companion that, "Constantinople will surely be conquered. What a blessed commander that will be, and what a bless army his army will be."
The whole movie, revolves around Muhammad Al Fatih and how he spend his life preparing for that holy conquest. He studies and spend time in Constantinople to learn their language and weak points of the city. The first time he sit on the throne is when he is only 12 years old. But the viziers retaliate so he gives up on the throne. Because of his dreams, the viziers thinks that he will lose territories to the Crusaders.
Few years later, he once again sits on the throne, and this time he is more powerful and more prepared for the Conquest of Constantinople. They are worried about how they will tackle the thick walls of Constantinople. But then one of his commander saves a girl, and her father who is an extraordinary war machine engineer. They make a huge cannon for Sultan Muhammad which can tear down the walls of Constantinople.
When they start their march against Constantinople. There comes a place, which they cannot cross with their boats. After sometime Sultan Al Fateh comes up with an idea that they will transport the ships through land, by putting huge logs as trails and pull the ships above it for easy movement. They succeed in it and then the day of battle arrives. Where the Ottoman forces stands in front of the most strongest city known as Constantinople.
They start the siege, and a lot of days passes. But the Ottoman forces fails to make any progress. That results in the Sultan and Janissaries becoming hopeless and upset. The Sultan lock himself in his tent, while the soldiers are on the verge of rebellion. Then a scholar comes to Sultan Al Fateh and talks to him, to get him out of his hopelessness. He then takes him to the grave of Ayub Al Ansaari RA, and tell him how He RA, died while fighting for Constantinople.
This gives enough courage to Sultan Al Fateh, so next morning he ready his forces for a final blow. They pray Fajar and after that they attacks the castle. After hundred of years, The Prophecy of Muhammad SAW is fulfilled. Sultan Al Fateh manages to defeat the enemy forces and conquers the city of Constantinople.
The way the director has concluded all the sea in a small bowl is extraordinary, and I will suggest everyone to watch it. Specially if you are into history.
